"Every song is accompanied by a brief, intriguing history lesson; just enough to whet the appetite of those who enjoy it as much as she."

A family-friendly musical program, perfect for your 2018 Illinois Bicentennial celebration!

Songs From the Prairie is a light-hearted journey to Illinois' history in song, based on Patti Ecker's NAPPA award-winning CD, "Prairieland." Patti will engage your group in a selection of sweet, funny and familiar folk songs. Sing along with spirited songs of America’s Pioneer yesteryears, like El-A-Noy, Lincoln and Liberty, Oh, Susanna!, Wait for the Wagon, Liza Jane/Goin' Down to Cairo and others. Patti can also add special tidbits of your Illinois town's history if requested. In costume, with guitar, banjo, Irish drum and spoons.

Bio:

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Patti Ecker was raised in what is now the Peaslee House Museum, home to the South Elgin Historical Commission. Yearly family trips to Gettysburg, Mount Vernon, Williamsburg as a child sparked her interest in history.  She has been on staff at The Old Town School of Folk Music, the Grove in Glenview and the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum and has provided programs melding music and history for the Chicago Historical Museum Park Voyagers summer program and many other local museums.  Her NAPPA award winning CD, “Prairieland” is a collection of traditional songs reflecting Illinois history.
